Pranayama
Prana means breath, respiration, life, vitality, energy or strength. Ayam means extension, expansion, length, breadth, regulation, prolongation, restriction or control. Pranayama is thus an extension of breath and its restrictions. The Pranayama is an art and techniques to help the respiratory organs to move and expand intentionally, rhythmically and intensively. Consists of a long, protracted thin flow of inhalation, retention and exhalation of breath. Inhalation stimulates the body and the exhalation expels vitiated air and toxins, and the retention of breath distributes energy throughout the body. This disciplined breathing helps the mind to disciplining and allows the students to obtain good health and longevity. The pranayama is not just the usual automatic breathing that keeps body and soul together. Through the large absorption of oxygen which is realized with the techniques covered, the student takes place in the subtle changes. The practice of pranayama regulates the flow of prana through the body. Also regulates all the student’s thoughts, his desires and his actions, and gives the equilibrium and the huge strength of will necessary to become masters of themselves.
